Fashion certainly does move at lightning speed. It's still 2009. We've already put together our Spring 2010 fashion trends guide. And leading fashion magazines have already started putting together their Spring 2010 issues. Here's model Freja Beha Erichsen at a photo shoot for the Spring 2010 issue of Japan's Spur magazine.

Spotted leaving the Karl Lagerfeld show in Paris, model Constance Jablonski amalgamates two hot 2010 fashion trends; the military jacket with subtly patched jeans, all in accord via a simple navy colour scheme.
fashion podcast Allan
In the last edition of Fashionising.com's fashion podcast Allan and I tipped Lara Stones' and Abbey Lee Kershaws' covers for January 2010 fashion magazines as amongst the months strongest. Given the strengths of both covers, it's no coincidence that both models featured on our top models of 2009 list. But it was model Natasha Poly who took out top honours for 2009, and she's done the same again for January 2010.

Charlotte Ronson Holiday Dinner at Kampuchea
I had the pleasure of joining Charlotte Ronson at her holiday dinner at Kampuchea in NYC last week. It was a lovely affair. It was nice to see friends and familiar faces -- the ferocious Kate Lanphear of Elle Magazine, Paper Mag's Mickey Boardman, Nylon's Faran Krentcil, Interview's Colleen Nika (who was my seatmate), Bianca of Modelinia, etc. The super friendly Ann Dexter-Jones, Charlotte's mom, told me she's a fan of blogs!

You know, I think NYC is the only place in the world where you can effortlessly strike a conversation with a very interesting stranger you've just met and end up feeling like you've known them forever. Love, love, love you Vanna and Becka!
It was a fun, fun night. After dinner, I ended up going to Schiller's for a few drinks and Darkrooom for a bit of dancing. Thanks Charlotte, Matt and Mandie!Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010
Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010
I remember whining not too long ago how American Vogue usually picks from the same pool of actresses for the covers, namely Nicole, Charlize, Cameron, Sienna, etc. so this cover is quite a bit of a shocker and totally unexpected.
It's a good thing, no?
Anyhoo, I'm particularly curious with two of their cover stories -- "Youthquake 2010" and "When Size 4 is Too Big".
Marc Jacobs Resort 2010 Singapore
There were lots of prints, stripes, sequins and yes, the gold lamé dress Kate Moss wore to the Met Ball... but my favourite piece from the collection is this super embellished navy blue cardigan with floral appliques. It was love at first sight.
If you live in Singapore, be sure to visit the new Marc Jacobs store at ION shopping center on Orchard Road. I went there for a quick visit and they already have select pieces from the Resort collection.
The Upper East Side goes on Holiday
The fashion world moves ever so quickly. One second I am reviewing Fall/Winter 2008 collections and before I know it, 2009 resort wear has just walked through the door just waiting for a review but then again, trust Galliano not to make a fashion statement.
Dior Resort 2009 collection was one of freshness, colour and chic. Beautiful ruffled silk skirts were intertwined with fabulous shades of fuchsia, orange and purple along with a classic fresh blazer in a wonderful tailored fit accompanied with an oversized black brooch for a look which screamed out an effortless chic appeal. Ruffled skirts and texture made its appearance at this show with lovely skirting and textured sleeves in reds, fuchsias and gold which contrasted incredibly with the more sophisticated white suits which denoted a sense of luxury and chic. Stripes, prints and florals were all evident in this collection with amazing, being seen on pants, skirts, tops even handbags and shoes! Gorgeous two piece sets were coming back with wonderful beaded detail around necklines and skirt hemlines. Oversized caftans were worn exceptionally well with minute accessories for that exaggerated resort luxe wear.
It appears that this collection mirrored the wonderful fashions of the fifties with obvious snippets of Bollywood in the intricate detailing which was evident on most of the pieces. The beautiful colours and textures created such a statement look which looked very “
Tea party madness.
For those who know and are coming to the Exclusive Le Black Book and The Iconic Fashion Blog tea party, I was wondering if something has occurred to you, something so very important which will either make or break your day, something like what to wear perhaps? Ha. Got you there.
Nothing really defines a tea party other than the typical pretty Carolina Herrera A-line skirt, Marc Jacobs blouse with a pair of dainty pink Manolos or perhaps, you could take tea party to a new level thinking along the lines of
For dresses, I know that I shall personally be investing a gorgeous lace and tulle number. I absolutely love this theme (“A fashionable Tea party”) because there is no absolute defining boundary in which you have to dress according to. I have picked a few different styles of dress which all fit the theme however they are all different thus you may find one which you like and then work with it in order to produce your own individual look. First up, I have chosen Thurley Baroque lace front dress as the gorgeous white cream shades and the detail on the bodice is enough to make a dainty impression. I would wear it with gold Jimmy Choo’s and gold bangles to oomph up the look subtly but enough to make a statement. Next I have chosen the Oscar De La Renta Ikat bubble dress. The traditional party dress style, this Oscar De La Renta piece is really sweet with the whimsical polka dots in the fabulous colours which modernize a classic party favourite. You should keep jewellery subtle and finish off the look with a pair of Bally wooden heels.
Miu Miu floral appliqué dress is such a gorgeous dress. It is simple enough but has that very daintily romantic appeal which I just adore. I love the dropped waistline and the beautiful little floral details which are seen on the bodice. Pair up the look with some pastel tones and some extra Chanel. The Fendi tulle prom dress is just a stunner for the more ostentatious dresser. It is subtle but dramatic with the extravagant tulle which protrudes from the hemlines of the garment. The gorgeous yellow colours are very summery and balance the dramatic effect. I’d wear it with a pair of Miu Miu ribbon heels to keep the look pretty and feminine.
Heels should be beautiful but comfortably so. For lovers of flat shoes, may I suggest the Giuseppe Zanotti jewelled appliqué flats as these gorgeous little shoes have fabulous metallic leather with a colourful diamante feature on the tips of the toes for elegance and a sense of luxury. Kitten heels are so very sweet for a good tea party with enough height for that oomph appeal but added comfort as well. Louboutin pink Kita t-bar heels are really gorgeous and such classic heels which would look well with a party dress. The Pedro Garcia Dannie Satin Pumps are such beautiful heels with very whimsically romantic features shown through the worn satin fabric in the classic peep-toe style.
With all that said, it is one thing for me to wish for you to dress up and look beautiful with pretty tea-party attired but it is a completely other thing for me to want you to just rock up, buy some pretty designer dresses to add to your wardrobe collection but most importantly, just have a blast…of tea, of course.
Sex and The City Premiere London
I don't know about you but The Iconic Fashion Blog cannot wait for the Sex and the City Movie to come out on June 4th 2008. The girls looked fabulously individual at the London premiere of the feature film with Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays Carrie Bradshaw) wearing an incredibly iconic headpiece designed by milliner Phillip Treacey. Is it fashionable or just a tree on top of her head. Love it or hate it? You be the judge.
Happy Snaps for the Richie-Maddens'.
If you didn't already know that in this month's issue of Harpers Bazaar, there are exclusive fashion photography shots of Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Harlow Winter Madden as well as Lionel Richie all playing the favourite "Happy family". I have to say that I adore Nicole Richie and these happy snap photos are just gorgeous, but not in an artsy way or even a professional photography way but I just love how everything is perfectly set up in this idyllic world: the perfect family, the perfect baby, and better yet, the perfect Alessandro Dell' Acqua dress and Dior Haute Couture and the even more perfect Tom Ford heels. Sigh. It surely is one happy family.
Tropicana prints and block colours this SS08/09
There seems to be a trend this spring/summer 2008/09 to the introduction of block colours and printed fabrics in creating a gorgeous summery feel to any look. Colours such as orange, fuchsia, white and yellows seem to be making their appearance off the shelves thanks to designers such as Missoni, Diane Von Furstenburg, Milly and Mayle, just to name a few.
For this spring/summer, futuristic is out; so you can replace your vinyl textures and eccentric fittings and shades of silver, greys and black for something loose, summery, printed and gorgeously colourful. Ruffles seem to be making a subtle comeback as well, with these elements appearing on the hemlines of maxi-dresses and the bottom edges of blouses. Prints and artwork inspired patterns seem to be quite huge and look just oh-so-fabulous on maxi dresses and even very sweet on the shorter knee length styles. I just love the printed Diane Von Furstenburg maxi dresses which are so fabulously resort-like with gorgeous prints in addictive shades of juicy orange and deep fuchsia to satisfy any summer tastes.
Also on the agenda, it appears that jumpsuits may indeed be making their comeback as well, with floaty printed bohemian or block printed fabrics. Antik batik has an extremely retro one which will look fabulous this summer. This spring/summer is also perfect for bringing out the incredibly affordable printed ‘Genie’ pants (from Tree of life by the way) with would look fabulous with a chic Chloe tank top and a pair of designer Bally wedges and a Missoni headscarf and a vintage clutch bag and a pair of oversized Marc Jacobs sunglasses. It is a look which just makes me want to break into an upbeat and fun song (such as “
With jewellery, keep it neutral with gorgeous plain shades and not too many intricacies. Butterflies, leaves and abstract shapes seem gorgeous in complementing any summery look. Check out Juicy Couture for something fabulously laidback and chic.In terms of footwear, jewelled flat sandals seem to be a fabulous complement to any tropical printed outfit. I adore the Giuseppe Zanotti Rock flat sandals which are just so cute with the colourful jewels in the pretty tones. If you are someone who loves a bit of height, why not trade in a pair of chunky heels for some glamorously chic wedges by Bally? I love the Nymona suede wedges by Bally which are just so effortlessly chic with the brown straps and the tan wedge heel.
I just love the gorgeous colours and prints and patterns which seem to be emerging and thus I can only hope that our weather steadily improves and yet we have not even reached the winter months in Australia yet! Oh, but we can dream…
Oh to being Beauty-full.
I think that everyone generally has their own beauty habits which never seem to die hard. I know that I may have been stuck in a beauty rut for quite some time now. I mean, day after day; I do the same make up process as I have always done. I put light, almost pastel green Dior-shadow onto my eyelids (as green brings out the best of brown eyes, and blue the best out of green eyes and so on…) before I gently line the top with Giorgio Armani eye pencil in noir and then finish it off with a wave of a Lancome mascara. My lips are then finished off with some MAC lip gloss wands or an occasional red MAC lipstick here and there. (I totally scrap the foundation part because I don’t use it).
I think that it is rather interesting as everyone has their own unique make up habits, for example; I know this one girl who goes for a completely natural look; but what you must know about any ‘natural’ look (notice inverted commas), it’s obviously a combination of some natural beige foundation, clear mascara, lip balm, you know the rest. And she looks fabulous because the look suits her. However, I also know for a fact that she has had the same make up look ever since I met her which was quite a long time ago. Funny enough, she is not the only one whose beauty habits I have observed over a long period of time which has been never changing.
As a result, I had come to the conclusion that perhaps without knowing (because we always seem to look fabulous if we keep at what works best); we may all be indeed stuck in a beauty rut. So taking this point to a new level, I decided to look up some fabulous looks which were featured in the fashion and beauty dictators of the runways and I came across a few new looks which would work just so well, not only with your designer outfit but also work: taking in account faces and the effectiveness of the looks.
Through browsing all these fabulous fashion runway websites, I was intrigued by the makeup featured at Preen as it was beautifully subtle but enhancing which is exactly what I think makeup should be doing. Pastel smoky eyes with pale ruby lips and natural eyebrows were such a gorgeous look. A dash of eye shadow to bring out the natural orb colour and shape was vital in emphasising a natural beauty. Invest in gorgeous colours such as pale blues, greens, apricots and silvers to bring out natural shades. For lips, keep the look sexy but not too seductive with some ‘wilted rose’ coloured lip gloss and balms. Finish the look with some clear mascara on top lashes and there you have subtle beauty which won’t break your budget…or your face.
