When Nick Verreos invited us to his Spring 2011 show at Style Week Orange County, I was determined to "make it work."
It's not a bad drive from Scottsdale and my son Dan, and his sweetheart Ryan, were more than happy to join me. We left bright and early on Friday morning.
On the way, I did a phone interview with Valerie Mayen (Not while I was driving, of course...) - she was adorable!
The show was at an outdoor mall called The Irvine Spectrum Center. We checked into our hotel, dropped off our bags and headed to the venue. We arrived at about 5:30 and there was already a long line of fans waiting to get into the show space. This is only a fraction of the line.
Fortunately we were on the "VIP List" (Thanks, Nick and David!) and were issued wristbands so that we could relax a little. We did our part for the economy and shopped while we waited for the event space to open.
Once in the space we were greeted like old friends by members of the Nikolaki family. Here are Nick's mom, Raquel and David's mom, Conchita.
Here is David's sister, Marisa and Nick's sister, Rita (in Nikolaki, of course!)
There were delicious refreshments and generous gift bags. Among the treasures were chocolates from Nordstrom, gift cards from Hollywood Million Denim, and these lovely glasses from Ezekiel.

Nick Verreos generously offers a sneak peek of several of the designs from his upcoming show. Italicized lines are quotes from Nick's note to BPR.
First is Amanda Fields in a Turquoise Silk Zibeline Gown w/ hand-beaded jeweled neckline.
Next is Eugena Washington--model from America's Next Top Model--Second Runner Up, Cycle 7!!!--she's wearing a Byzantine-colored Silk Zibeline mini strapless dress--a mini version of the gown Samatha Harris wore on "Dancing With The Stars"!
I'm also attaching a photo of our NIKOLAKI "mascot," Benny, hanging out in our store-front Atelier window (drapes closed because of the fittings!)
Also, I just realized that actually we will have TWO Project Runway Models: Amanda Fields and Holly Ridings (of Models of The Runway Season 2) of course! (I love those 6'2" girls!!!)
