Actor Paquito Diaz dies of pneumonia complications at age 73

Four days after falsely reported dead, actor Francisco "Kit" Bustillo Diaz, known for his popular screen name Paquito Diaz, took his last breath Thursday night at his dwelling in Daraga, Albay.

He was 73 (May 28, 1937 – March 3, 2011).

Reports say that the veteran actor died of complications of pneumonia at 8:20PM last night.

Paquito Diaz is one of the most famous villains in Philippine Movies. He did several films and won a FAMAS Best Supporting Actor in 1965 for his role in the film, "Ang Mananandata". His last film was in 2003, a movie entitled "Pakners" starred by the late Fernado Poe, Jr, Efren "Bata" Reyes, Oyo Boy Sotto and Toni Gonzaga.

Paquito Diaz is survived by Nena, his wife and Cheska and Joko, his children.

Enchong Dee helps Simon Atkins and Kim Chui to meet in person

Kapamilya young actor Enchong Dee reportedly facilitated a meet-up between UAAP basketball player Simon Atkins and actress Kim Chui.

Enchong, who is also from De La Salle University like Simon and who won many swimming competitions for the school, was said to have asked through a phone call by his swimming coach to introduce Simon to Kim personally.

Kim is yet to be interviewed on how her first encounter with Simon went.

Simon Atkins headlined entertainment news recently after posting a series of post in the social media site Twitter telling how he wanted to meet the beautiful young actress Kim. They were able to talk over the phone but were not able to meet personally until this.

The international singing sensation Justin Bieber surely knows how to charm his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. He recently ordered truckloads of flowers which he asked to be delivered to Selena's house.

A TMZ article says that the 16 year-old pop icon called a local flower shop to buy every single flower it has in the hope of "filling Selena's house of flowers". The florist said to have used multiple trucks to pull off the romantic stunt!

Phil and James Younghusband, new endorsers of Collezione-C2

"Mula Sa Puso" Remake Cast revealed! | Lauren Young, Jm de Guzman, Enrique Gil take lead roles

After the overwhelming success of its remake on Mara Clara, ABS-CBN will again bring back to our TV screens another well-loved teleserye hit in the past. The 1997-1999 drama series, Mula sa Puso which brought Claudine Barreto, Rico Yan and Diether Ocampo to superstardom, is now being taped and will be aired on the Kapamilya network soon.

So far the biggest break of her career, young actress Lauren Young will be the new Claudine in this remake and will be playing the role of Via. It will also be a wish-come-true for newcomers JM de Guzman and Enrique Gil because they have been chosen to portray the roles of Gabriel (originally played by Rico Yan) and Michael (Diether Ocampo's role), respectively.

Also part of the cast are veteran actor Gabby Concepcion as Via's father Don Fernando, Eula Valdez as Selina and Dawn Zulueta as Via's Mom, Magdalena.

Mula sa Puso 2011 will be directed by Wenn Deramas who also directed the original series.

Via (Claudine Barretto), the only daughter of Don Fernando (Juan Rodrigo), is raised as his darling princess. On her eighteenth birthday she finds out that her father has promised her (hand in marriage) to her childhood friend Michael (Diether Ocampo), and before the birthday party is over, she gets kidnapped. She is rescued by a good samaritan named Gabriel (Rico Yan), whom she falls in love with. Michael at the latter part of the story became romantically involved with Via's best friend, Trina (Rica Peralejo). As the story unfolds, Via ends up having to decide between the two men in her life, while learning more about her mother Magda (Jaclyn Jose) and fighting off her evil aunt Selina, (Princess Punzalan), who is the sister of Don Fernando who wants to make all of them miserable before Selina's defeat.

In the story, Selina was one of the most influential character, due to her greediness in power and wealth of Don Fernando ( Juan Rodrigo), her brother. She used people in order to manipulate them when a bombing in the departure of Via and her family to start a new life begins, Via lives a new identity but comes back to her family, and they all face Selina one last time in dignity.

MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) – The daughter of Paquito Diaz on Sunday refuted a newspaper report that the veteran actor passed away.

According to the report, which came out Sunday morning, the 73-year-old actor passed away on Saturday in Albay.

Diaz's daughter, Joanna Diaz-Gallent, said her father is still alive. She added that rumors of her father's death have spread around in the past.

“It’s ok. Mag-one month na kami tinetext na he's dead na daw. Sanay na kami," she said in a text message sent to ANC.

Jean Balagtas, daughter of action film director Jose “Kaka” Balagtas and official secretary of the Katipunan ng mga Artista ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon (KAPPT), also denied reports that Diaz has died.

“Hindi po totoo ang balita. Nakausap po ng mga taga-Actors Guild si Joko at sinabi niya mismo na hindi patay ang kanyang ama,” informed Balagtas.

Joko, a son of Diaz, is a member of KAPPT board of directors.

In 2002, Diaz suffered a stroke, causing his health to deteriorate. He was recently rushed to a hospital in Bicol because of an illness.

Diaz, also known as Kits in show business, is confined at the Estevez Memorial Hospital in Legazpi City, Albay.

The actor, Francisco Bustillos Diaz in real life, was born on May 28, 1937 in Pampanga.

Diaz was introduced in the movie “Son of Fung Ku.” He has done hundreds of films but gained iconic status as the villain in many films with the late Fernando Poe Jr. –ANC and Boy Villasanta, abs-cbnNEWS.com

The original news report was written at 3:25 PM and the update came out at 5:45PM. At 12:00 AM today, Pilipino Star Ngayon also reported the death of the actor which again is just a rumor. I wonder if it is the 'newspaper' that the above ABS-CBN report pertains to.

Angel Aquino, Lui Villaruz call it quits

The year might have started with hot celebrity hook-ups and lovely weddings of famous personalities in show business. But as what we know about the nature of the industry, it's not gonna be all fairy tales all year round. In fact, a 4-year long romance has just ended.

Model turned actress Angel Aquino confirmed recently that she and longtime boyfriend TV personality-businessman Lui Villaruz have called it quits.


When asked whether there was a third party involved, Angel Aquino was quick to say,

"Of course, in his part, maybe he's hurt about something. But as far as I know... and concerned, there's no third party involved. Wala po talaga. I'm not with anyone else. I did not have any relationship with someone else while with Lui," Angel told the press during the 5th "Us Girls" Anniversary presscon held earlier this week.

Angel, 38, clarified that it is not her first break-up with Lui, 34.

"Kami ni Lui we would be on and off, in those four years, but we just wouldn't tell people. Kasi para sa amin, di naman kailangan, di ba? Parang... then when you meet someone and people seeing you with another person, that's it, and you want to talk about it, then you talk about it. Pero hindi na namin ia-announce na, 'O hindi na kami ni Lui.' Kasi you're inviting intrigue pa, e."

However, it seems like the split is for good since Angel also revealed that Lui is currently dating 'Miss Earth'.

"Sabi niya, 'O, bago mo marinig sa iba, sasabihin ko na sa iyo na I'm dating Miss Earth.' And I'm happy for him. I'm very, very, very, very happy for him." Wala raw siyang ideya kung current o past Miss Earth title holder ang dine-date ngayon ng ex-boyfriend. Hindi na raw siya nagtanong at wala talaga siyang balak pang mag-text back dito."

In 2009, it has been reported that Angel and Lui were discussing marriage.

Sam Concepcion receives a hug from Taylor Swift

As a Taylor Swift fan, I would have to say that Sam Concepcion is the luckiest guy in the Philippines! Not only that Grammy winner Taylor Swift chose him personally to do the front act of her "Speak Now" concert in Araneta last Friday, but he also received a sweet big hug from the beautiful international singing sensation!

Yes, Taylor Swift gave Sam Concepcion a hug after thanking the latter for his performance.

According to Carlo Orosa, Sam's manager, Taylor congratulated Sam for an awesome front act.

"Sam you were awesome, great... thank you!", Taylor reportedly said.

It left Sam all smiles.

"I totally did not expect for her to hug me, she seemed excited and so I got very excited too," Sam said.

It started when Simon asked his friend former PBB Teen housemate Josef Elizalde via Twitter to introduce him to Kim. They finally were able to talk on the phone and Kim seemed to like Simon also.

Half-Filipino Clint Jun Gamboa off to next round of American Idol 10

If you're wondering if the asian-looking guy Clint Jun Gamboa who belted out the song "Get Ready" during the group round of the Hollywood Week in American Idol Season 10, is a Filipino?


Yes he is. I read this on the comments of his old Youtube video when someone asked him his roots even before he joined the singing contest. He said he is Half-Pinoy. Check his Youtube channel HERE.


The karaoke host and his group in the second round of Hollywood Week got a little controversial when they dismissed 15 year-old Jaycee Badeaux since the latter cannot catch up with their choreography. Jacee ended up searching for a new group while fighting back in tears.

It was a good call for Clint's group since they were able to deliver one of the best performances of this round. Clint was shocked though when Steven Tyler asked his groupmates to step forward leaving him behind alone, only to find out that they all made it through to the next round.

Jennifer Lopez said, "Come'on Jun! You know you're going through!"

Clint is off to the next round which will be aired tonight. He has to capture the hearts of the judges once again with a solo performance.

Simon Atkins talks to Kim Chu over the phone - romance in the making?

It all started when UAAP basketball player-model Simon Atkins (@7SimonAtkins) asked his friend Pinoy Big Brother Teen Ex-housemante Josef Elizalde (@josefelizalde) through Twitter to introduce him to young actress Kim Chiu.

"@josefelizalde pssst Kim Chiu! pakilala mo ako ha" Simon tweeted.


On SNN, Kim Chiu admitted that she spoke with Simon Atkins over the phone already.

“Simon Atkins, actually hindi ko siya kilala, naririnig ko lang, hindi ko pa siya nakikilala pero nag-usap na kami. Kasi ‘yong isang friend niya pinakausap sa akin,” Kim said.

Kim also added that she got curious after it was reported that the Green Archers' captain wanted to meet her. She revealed that she put an effort to search his name on the Internet.

"Hindi ko talaga alam. Sinearch ko lang siya sa Google.Okay naman siya. Basketbolista naman siya. 'Yon, thank you kung gusto niya ako makilala," Kim shared.

When asked on how the phone conversation went, Kim said,

"Sandali lang, e, kasi nga may ginagawa nga ako. E, bakit ko siya kakausapin, hindi ko nga siya kakilala? Gusto niya raw ako makausap, so 'yon."

Would she agree to go out on a date with him? “Hindi ko pa alam, depende, depende.” according to the actress.

Doe she like him? "Yes naman, 'no!", Kim said.

Will she will end up being Atkins’ girlfriend in the future?

“Hindi ko alam. ‘Yung pagmamahal, ‘yung boyfriend darating at darating din ‘yan, eh. Hindi naman hinahanap ‘yan. Darating nang kusa ‘yan nang hindi mo alam.”

Patricia Bermudez and Vince Hizon Wedding Proposal Video

In celebration of the love month, let me share to you one of the most memorable wedding proposals witnessed on live television.

On June 8, 2003 during a half-time break of a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) game, courtside-reporter Patricia Bermudez was delivering her spiel when she heard her boyfriend PBA player Vince Hizon's voice on the microphone. A few moments after, Hizon went down on his knees saying, “Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be Mrs. Vince Hizon?”

The video of it was recently uploaded on Youtube which gained more than 50 thousand hits after 2-3 days.

Phil Younghusband, Angel Locsin reschedule date

After Philippine Azkals' Phil Younghusband invited actress Angel Locsin for a date through Twitter which caused quite a stir, the two finally decided to do target shooting on February 13. However, they found out that the venue they had chosen closes during Sundays and so they postponed the date.

“Just to clear things, we didn’t go target shooting. We thought about it but we found out Saturday afternoon that the range closes on Sundays,” Angel tweeted.


Angel made the statement since eventologist Tim Yap and newscaster TJ Manotoc had a little Twitter 'argument' when TJ opposed Tim's tweet.

"Just learned that Phil Younghusband will be going out on a date with Angel Locsin tomorrow. They're gonna go target shooting. Hanep!" - tweeted by Tim on February 12.

TJ then posted a tweet a few moments after attacking Tim's post,

"sorry folks, I just checked w @PhilYHusband and as per him the shooting range date ain't true. hold ur horses!" TJ posted.

On February 13, TJ apologized to Tim and explained his tweet.

"Hey tweeps, I spoke to @iamtimyap and have apologized already, this is to apologize online as well. He is not wrong. He heard it from james. Meanwhile Phil denied it to me. So what can we do? Nothing :) let them have their peace as so they wish. Sometimes celebs admit to a few & deny to many. You can tell who is "few" & who is "many" in this situation :) thanks for understanding tim! My apologies again, you don't deserve the stupid hate being thrown your way for this."

James Yap gifts Kris Aquino a bracelet

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino's birthday falls on Valentine's Day. Her celebration this year included dining with estranged husband James Yap together with their son Bimby/Baby James and Kris's other son Josh, on Sunday, February 13.

Kris who turned 40 on February 14, 2011 shared on Twitter that Bimby and James gave her a bracelet as a gift.

“He + bimby bought me a lovely bracelet w/ a heartwarming card. Josh & Bimby loved riding in James’ car. I rode in my own to give them time together,”she tweeted.

Kris further said that she wishes 'legal freedom' for her and James.

“By the way, I’m allowed a wish right? I wish James & I the legal freedom to be able to love again & share w/ new lifelong partners the love we failed to sustain between us. Bimby gave him a red BB Torch & I gave him 2 Bruno Mars VIP tickets for him & his date for April 8. Happy birthday to him on Feb 15,” she added.

Tween Heart's Kristoffer Martin (Bio and Pictures)

Currently playing as Chris in GMA's Reel Love Presents - Tween Hearts, young actor Kristoffer Martin (Kristofer Martin G. Dangculos) was born on November 20, 1994 in Olongapo, Zambales. He was first seen on TV competing in a singing contest on ABS-CBN, Little Big Star in 2007. He then appeared on different TV shows on ABS-CBN as a guest and as a cast in anime fantaserye "Kung Fu Kids" and a few more programs.


Kristoffer Martin also appeared on the television commercials of Enervon and Coca Cola.

He recently transferred to GMA7 and landed on lead roles in Endless Love with Kathryn Bernardo and Reel Love Presents - Tween Hearts. He is going to be part of Marian Rivera's upcoming epic fantaserye, "Amaya".

Aljur Abrenica lost his virginity at 17 to Ara Mina?

After a big revelation from the Machete lead star Ajur Abrenica that he lost his 'innocence' to an older woman when he was still a minor (17 years old), people can't help to speculate who the woman could be since he did not mention who it was.

A couple of entertainment sites came up with one name which they based on whom the actor have worked with. And it was Ara Mina.

They suspected the 31-year-old sexy actress Ara Mina since she has worked with Aljur on an afternoon soap, "Dapat Ba Kitang Mahalin?" where the two even had some intimate love scenes.

Ara Mina denied the issue of course. When @john_lee asked Ara Mina (@realAraMina) via Twitter: “may katotohanan ba? bat nadrarag ka sa isyung aljur and older woman? ano ba talaga?”, Ara Mina replied, "“OPO NADRAG MY NAME PERO DI PO AKO YON.”

While having a break during their football practice before their match against Mongolia, Philippine Azkals' James Younghusband together with brother Phil and a buddy did a very cute video which I guess is a parody of Glee's "Teenage Dream". The video was uploaded on Youtube January 7th and has gained 28k+ views as of this writing. The uploader, "gaita31", indicated on the video description that it's James's response to Phil Younghusband's teach me how to Philly video. You can view Phil's video HERE.

Erwan Heussaff - Anne Curtis romance gets support from Solenn Heussaff

Kapuso star Solenn Heussaff is happy on how the relationship of her brother Erwan Heussaff to actress Anne Curtis is going on right now especially that Anne is now more vocal about it. Solenn said in a PEP interview,

"I'm very happy for them and I really love Anne, so they have my full support."


Solenn added that she wouldn't have any trouble when Anne becomes a part of their family someday. She shared the things she likes most about the Green Rose lead actress Anne,

"Anne is very successful. She's come a long way and she did it on her own. She's very down-to-earth. She's always smiling. I've never seen her in a bad mood in the four or five years that I've known her. She's my number one pick."

When asked about Erwan's plans in joining the showbusiness, she replied,

"No, he hates showbiz. He really loves Anne and he supports her but he's never going to join showbiz."
