Thia Megia, Clint Jun Gamboa advance off to final round of Hollywood Week (American Idol 10)

The Filipino pride Thia Megia and Clint Jun Gamboa are doing well on their quest to be the next American Idol.

During the third round of the Hollywood Week of American Idol Season 10 where they have to perform solo, Thia and Clint captured the hearts of the judges once again with their impressive performances.

The 15-year old student Thia Megia performed her rendition of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World". While Clint Jun Gamboa, a 26 year-old Karaoke Bar host, showed his confidence doing his cover of the classic "Georgia on my Mind".

They both got the judges approval to be sent off to the final round of the Hollywood Week. They are now a step closer to be one of the Top 24 finalists who will perform before live audience and broadcast.

Half-Filipino Clint Jun Gamboa off to next round of American Idol 10

If you're wondering if the asian-looking guy Clint Jun Gamboa who belted out the song "Get Ready" during the group round of the Hollywood Week in American Idol Season 10, is a Filipino?

Yes he is. I read this on the comments of his old Youtube video when someone asked him his roots even before he joined the singing contest. He said he is Half-Pinoy. Check his Youtube channel HERE.

The karaoke host and his group in the second round of Hollywood Week got a little controversial when they dismissed 15 year-old Jaycee Badeaux since the latter cannot catch up with their choreography. Jacee ended up searching for a new group while fighting back in tears.

It was a good call for Clint's group since they were able to deliver one of the best performances of this round. Clint was shocked though when Steven Tyler asked his groupmates to step forward leaving him behind alone, only to find out that they all made it through to the next round.

Jennifer Lopez said, "Come'on Jun! You know you're going through!"

Clint is off to the next round which will be aired tonight. He has to capture the hearts of the judges once again with a solo performance.

Thia Megia's Audition Piece on American Idol 10: "Chasing Pavements" by Adele (Video and Lyrics)

Thia Megia, the Filipino-American who so far made it to the second round in the 10th season of American Idol, had a very interesting audition piece. It is the song "Chasing Pavements" by Adele.

I so like her rendition. I thought it was another song. I hope she'll make it to the top 10. She's very talented, eh.

Meanwhile here's the music video and lyrics of the song "Chasing Pavements" by Adele.

"Chasing Pavements" by Adele (Lyrics)

I've made up my mind, don't need to think it over
If I'm wrong I am right, don't need to look no further
This ain't lust, I know this is love

But if I tell the world, I'll never say enough
'Cause it was not said to you
And that's exactly what I need to do if I'd end up with you

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

I build myself up and fly around in circles
Wait then as my heart drops and my back begins to tingle
Finally could this be it?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep on chasing pavements
Should I just keep on chasing pavements?

Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?

Ellen DeGeneres leaves American Idol Season 10

In the upcoming American Idol season 10, Ellen DeGeneres will not be judge anymore. The news was confirmed today by Fox representative.

DeGeneres would not appear at the auditions this summer or on the show next winter. Reason for leaving might be connected to the come back of original producer Nigel Lythgoe which was reported this week. According to the reports, Lythgoe is planning to revamp the setup of judges.

In a statement issued by DeGeneres, she said that the decision was her.

“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” she said. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.”

It's Ellen! Degeneres announced her new gig yesterday during a taping of her talk show. The funny lady is a long-time fan of American Idol. She'll bring a fresh perspective to the judge's table since she doesn't have a background in the music industry. She's just a everyday music-lover! And she'll bring a consumer's opinion to the show.

Just in time for the start of American Idol tonight, Kelly Clarkson has a new single from her upcoming album All I Ever Wanted called "My Life Would Suck Without You." It's pretty good! Oh how I've missed the season one winner! What do you think?

Quote Of The Day

"As far as people thinking I'm pretty or something, I don't know. It's amazing what a haircut and forgetting to shave will do." - David Cook on his newfound popularity.

Cook Takes The Title

Last night's Idol proved victorious for David Cook as he was given the title of this year's American Idol. What a voice and what a season he had! Props to David Archie as well, what a competitor and what a voice, I'm sure he'll go far. I was on the edge of my seat last night, I literally didn't know which David, I mean which way it would go. I would have been happy either way, but I think David C. deserved it a little more. I can't wait to see what kind of record he'll come out with! Congrats!

Idol Goes Big And Gives Back

Although Wednesday's American Idol won't be saying goodbye to another contestant, (the results will be shown Thursday night) they will be airing their Idol Gives Back show for the second year in a row. The fundraiser will be raising money for both U.S. and international charities and will feature big stars like Brad Pitt, Hollywood it-couple David and Victoria Beckham, Miley Cyrus, and former Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks. I recommend having a box of kleenex handy as the show will also include heartfelt stories informing people firsthand on how this special will be making a difference in the lives of many.

Winners of the Week

Two very big shows had two very big episodes this week.

Not only did Project Runway reveal its winning designer on Wednesday, but just last night American Idol's top 12 was decided.

Christian Siriano proved that "fierceness" was just what Heidi Klum was looking for as he (emotionally) took the title of best designer of the hit-show's fourth season. Siriano, from Annapolis, MD and the youngest contestant to ever win, achieved another difficult task as well...he made the one and only Posh smile. Victoria Beckham, who joined Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia on the judging panel for the final runway show, admitted that Siriano's collection was something that she would wear and in her own words said, "It was major."

Click here to check out Siriano's "fierce" collection.

In-between all those nail-biting commercial breaks, Ryan Seacrest finally revealed which singers will compete next week in American Idol's top 12 last night. Although it was sad to see the four contestants leave, it will be exciting to see how the top 12 will perform as the stakes get higher.

Idol's Top 12:

Michael Johns
Seyesha Mercado
David Archuleta (!)
Carly Smithson
David Cook
Ramiele Malubay
Jason Castro
Kristy Lee Cook
David Hernandez
Brooke White (!)
Chikezie
Amanda Overmyer
