Justin Timberlake Takes A Swing At Childhood Illness
Justin Timberlake continues to solidify his good guy image with his latest foray into charitable do-gooder territory. He hit Sin City on Monday but it was for an angelic cause. Timberlake took to the links for the first day of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The tournament ends Sunday but not before Timberlake joins Rihanna, The Jonas Brothers, Adam Levine, and others for a charity concert on Friday. Proceeds will benefit an international health care system that provides specialty pediatric care.
Timberlake, who started playing the sport about 5 years ago, says he looks forward to melding two of his favorite things.
"The partnership with the Shriners came about when I was trying to get involved with the PGA TOUR because I'm such a fan," Timberlake said. "And the Vegas spot seemed like a good fit for me and for celebrities alike, and it was already a Pro-Am, so we tacked onto that and obviously in the process we got involved with the Shriners, who is the beneficiary of the tournament. And so it's great."
But he says he's still coming to grips with his name bolstering the event.
"I don't think it's really hit me yet," he said. "I sort of had a glimpse of it when I saw the first logo on one of the flags...I was kind of like, 'Wow, this is really happening.' It's kind of been a small dream of mine to host an event. The first time I ever played a Pro-Am in golf was at the Bob Hope in the desert. I had a great time. I thought to myself, it would be amazing if one day I could be able to, A, host an amazing event and, B, raise some money for charity. The Shriners Hospital, obviously we're going to do some great things for them in raising money with this week coming up in October. So I'm excited. I'm really, really excited about it."
Justin gracious about Britney
Justin Timberlake talked to Oprah Winfrey about his teen girlfriend Britney Spears and new love Jessica Biel.On Britney:
Oprah: "What do you think is going on with Britney?"
Justin: "I don't know, to be honest with you. I haven't spoken to her in years. I mean, there's no ill will - I have nothing but love for her. It's funny because we dated each other at a time...wow, I haven't talked about this in a long time. It's interesting."
Oprah: "But you've never talked about it with me, so it's okay."
Timberlake: "Hey, let's get it in, girl."
Oprah: "Let's get it in."
Timberlake: "We were teenagers, you know?"
Oprah: "Yes, famous teenagers."
Timberlake: "I think that's basically the best way to describe what happened to us. I think she's a great person, and I don't know her as well as I did... What I do know about her is she has a huge heart, and she is a great person."
On Jessica:
Oprah doesn't get a name out of Timberlake, but he does share a few secrets. "I'm dating someone. But all I can tell you is she smells lovely," he says. "I get pretty romantic around her," he says, admitting he even sings to her sometimes. While he's away on tour, Timberlake stays connected through iChat. "Technology is a wonderful thing sometimes... I find that to be really cool, when you can actually see someone's face. I do it with my friends, as well, just to have a conversation back and forth. It just makes you feel closer, that's all." Of dating in the public eye, Timberlake says, "If two famous people are dating each other, what I found - and I could be wrong - but just in my personal experience, [they think] if you're not going to get married, then you're breaking up."
Did Britney back out of plans to work with JT?
From the New York Post today:Britney Spears reportedly backed out at the last minute from recording a duet with her old flame, Justin Timberlake - and the inexplicable decision last month has suits at her record label, Jive, very worried. The duet, which was to be produced by hit-maker Timbaland at his studio in Virginia Beach, could have started a big comeback for the troubled pop tart, who peaked before she had two marriages and two kids. A music industry source said Timberlake wrote the duet specifically for Spears. Although they wouldn't be together in the studio, his voice would have been mixed with hers later. "Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this - and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song. It's crazy," said the insider. "She's looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away." Another insider said, "Listen, everyone is worried. In her mind, her album is done and she's done enough work... She's an easy target right now, because she's...sick. People like her are sick. It's like an anorexic who's sick in the head and needs help. She needs help. It's sad because what she's got - and we've heard it's like bipolar disorder - can be treated with medication, but she won't do it." There's concern that Spears, now without a great song to perform, will bomb at the VMAs, which would have been her crucial comeback appearance. Reps for Jive and Timberlake refused to comment.
JT opens NYC restaurant
Justin Timberlake opened his new restaurant last night in NYC. Called Southern Hospitality, the eatery is a barbecue joint that will serve up traditional Memphis-style dishes inspired by the food Timberlake grew up with - ribs, buttermilk biscuits, pulled pork and fried green tomatoes. "We had to negotiate on which ones she was willing to give up," the singer says of his grandmother's recipes, which provided the basis for many of the restaurant's dishes. Also on hand for the opening were Jay-Z, Seth Green, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Timberlake's best friend and business partner Trace Ayala.JT starts record label

Justin Timberlake has teamed up with Interscope Records to start his own record label. Tennman Records - whose name is a nod to the singer's home state of Tennessee - will announce it's first signings in the next few weeks. Timberlake himself is signed to Jive Records, though will act as chairman and CEO of his new venture.

Justin + Jess: it's love
Love is in the air for new couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Just for months after his split with Cameron Diaz, Timberlake is reportedly "in love" with the Illusionist actress. The pair were recently spotted getting cozy at a Manchester hotel.source
Justin and Jessica getting cozy
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have been quietly getting to know each other in England, where Biel has joined the SexyBack singer on tour. "They were kissing and holding hands," says a witness who spied the pair at the posh Lowry Hotel in Manchester. The pair "held hands" three days earlier during a private dinner, according to a fellow diner. Reps for both stars have declined to comment.
Justin called Britney
Justin Timerlake admits he recently called ex-girlfriend Britney Spears to make sure she was okay. "I called her because I was worried about her," the SexyBack singer said during a press junket for Shrek the Third. "She's a great woman. I'm rooting for her. [It] seems like she's getting everything under control now." Timberlake, single since splitting with Cameron Diaz in January, reportedly spent time with rumored fling Jessica Biel at a barbecue he had in LA last week, and things between the two got "hot and heavy," says a source close to the singer. As for Biel, an insider describes her as "crazy about [JT]."JT still protective of Cameron
Justin Timberlake is still a gentleman when it comes to ex Cameron Diaz. "It's hard for me to talk about because we're talking about a person that I love and respect," Timberlake told British GQ about his former girlfriend of nearly four years. "If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I'll have something to say to them." Of his other famous ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears, the SexyBack singer says, "Honestly, I am so far removed from that situation." And his best buddy backs him up. "She just isn't part of his life," says Trace Ayala. And of rumors that he had sent a message to Spears while she was in rehab, Timberlake says he "didn't know anything," adding, "A coded message to Britney?" in disbelief.JT hates the tabloids

JT and Timbaland to help Britney?
Uber-producer Timbaland wants to help Britney Spears get her career back. "I feel her pain, it really bothers me," said Timbaland, who produced hit albums this year for Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. "I'm the type of person who tries to save the world. I just want to take her away, go overseas, and work [things] out... I asked Justin, 'How would you feel about me working with Britney?' I had to ask him that. I said, 'Would you do it with me?'" JT, who dated Spears at the height of her career, agreed, according to Timbaland. A rep for the SexyBack singer referred all inquiries today to Timbaland's spokesperson, who has not yet commented.JT to open third restaurant

Justin Timberlake is adding a new restaurant to his list of projects. The SexyBack singer already owns two hot eateries - Chi in Hollywood and Destino in NYC - and has plans for a second Manhattan haunt. Timberlake and his partner will cut the ribbon on Southern Hospitality on Second Avenue this April, with a menu inspired by the Southern flavor of the popstar's home state of Tennessee.
