Kevjumba and His Dad, 4th on the Norway Leg of the Amazing Race Season 17

Kevin Wu (KevJumba of Youtube) and Michael Wu (his dad) maintained their 4th place spot in the most recent episode of the Amazing Race Season 17 which was set in Norway.

During the 'Roadblock', KevJumba insisted to do the task since it is very physical which his 59 year-old father may not be able to do. KevJumba rappelled down from a bridge to get the clue from a boat below and rappelled back up using his own strength. In the 'Detour', the father and son tandem chose to be on a boat to send fish and chainsaw to a certain direction rather biking uphill since again it may be difficult for Michael.

In the end, KevJumba and his dad arrived to the Pitstop 4th. 'The Doctors' won the leg after finishing the Fast Forward task where they had to do a Viking Christmas Ritual where they had to eat an animals head. The 'Volleyball Friends' were sent home for arriving last in the Pitstop.

KevJumba and Dad Wiser and Luckier on The Amazing Race Season 17 Episode 5

KevJumba (Kevin Wu) and his Dad (Michael Wu) were on the last place the previous leg and so their fans were somehow anticipating that the 5th episode of the Amazing Race Season 17 would be the last time they will see their idols on the show. However, being wiser and luckier this time around the father and son were able to pull themselves back on the race. Let me tell you how.



Having limited flights in Ghana, the teams were all scheduled on the same flight to the next venue of the race, Sweden -they were not obligated to be on this flight, though. Kevin thought of calling the airline company for a sooner flight using the taxi driver's phone - he was able to confirm that there was. The other teams were not able to to think about it except 'The Doctors' who booked the flight online. Together with two other teams whom they shared the info about the earlier flights on, 'The Doctors' and 'KevJumba and Dad' arrived in Sweden with a 2-hour advantage against the rest of the teams.

Fourth to arrive at the Ice Hotel for their clue, Kevin and Michael had to do their penalty task for being last the previous leg. They had to wait for 10 minutes before they can get their clue while sitting on a chair maid out of ice. Wearing only soccer shorts, this was not an all an easy task for Kevin.

Kevin and Michael immediately headed back to the race. They got lucky in navigating that they were able to do and finish the 'Roadblock' first. In the 'Detour' though, in consideration of Michael's condition they had to choose the less physical task but longer to finish task where they had to build a native tent than the faster task which to sledge down the slopes of a mountain in less than 1 minute and 58 seconds.

At the end, Kevjumba and his father arrived 4th at the Pitstop. 'The Doctors" won a Belize Vacation for being first. While, the 'Acapella Singers' got eliminated for placing last.

Still in Ghana, the third leg was an emotional one for Kevin Wu (a Youtube celebrity popularly known as KevJumba) and Michael Wu (Kevin's father) since they almost gave up racing after a task which entailed so much physical effort to the 59 year-old father. The hot African weather also added on Michael's burden who cried and said sorry to his son and that he cannot do the task anymore.

However, after having checked by a medical officer and with the determination of proving his son that they are a team, Michael stood up and continued the task. Although they were able to finish it, it was already late since all other teams were already at the Pitstop. Yes, KevJumba and his father were last to arrive at the Pitstop but they were not eliminated because it was the first predetermined non-elimination league.

For sure there will still be more physical tasks on the coming episodes and thus, KevJumba fans are I believe a bit worried right now. :D

I just want to update KevJumba fans out there who missed to watch Episode 2 of Amazing Race Season 17. As we all know, Youtube star, Kevin Wu (KevJumba) and his father, Michael Wu are on the current season of Amazing Race. During the first leg, they came in 7th which I think made the fans a little worried of not seeing the father and son tandem in the next episodes if they'll do worse. Luckily, KevJumba and his Dad stepped it up in the second leg of the race which was set in Accra, Ghana in Africa. They were the third team to arrive in the Pitstop.

During this episode, the teams were tasked to sell shades/eyeglasses to locals in a very crowded African Market. They were also made to choose between setting up TV cables or deliver customized coffins to households.

The Shopping Hosts (Brook Roberts and Claire Champlin) won a 10-day trip to Hawaii for coming first in the Pitstop. While the mother-and-daughter team (Andie DeKroon and Jenna Sykes) got eliminated for being last.

Waaaaah... I know Amazing Race Season 17 is to premier today but I did not know that I'd be seeing a familiar face as I watched it just moments ago. I saw KevJumba and his dad in the show!

For those who does not know, KevJumba (Kevin Wu) is a Youtube 'celebrity' who is known for his funny clips in the video site. His dad, Michael Wu, already appeared on KevJumba's videos also. So this explains why Kevjumba was out from youtube for like a month last summer. Presumably, he was with his dad racing with other 10 teams around the globe.

I hope they'll do better in the next leg since they were just 7th to arrive at the piststop in the premier episode. I just wanna see more of them. :D
